User Groups


Term Purpose
Public User

No login is necessary.
Restricted acess to teh site, and minimal permissions.
Allowed access to SSDBviewer and SSDBquery.
Can discover all files and view metadata for all files.
Can not view or download data files.

Basic User The user level immediately granted upon signup.
Restricted access to the site, and minimal permissions.
Allowed access to SSDBviewer and SSDBquery.
Can discover all files and view metadata for all files.
Can view and download all non-proprietary data.
Reviewer

 

Basic User privileges, plus allowed access to all files, including proprietary data, for assigned proposals. Access allowed for specific time period, while reviewer is on panel, or proposal under review, as approved by IODP-MI.
Allowed access to SSDBviewer and SSDBquery.
Can discover all files and view metadata for all files.
Can view and download all non-proprietary data in unassigned proposals.

Proponent

Basic User privileges, plus allowed access to all files, including proprietary data, for assigned proposals.
Can upload original data, or copy existing data files into assigned proposals.
Allowed access to SSDBviewer and SSDBquery.
Can discover all files and view metadata for all files.
Can view and download all non-proprietary data in unassigned proposals.

SSDB Staff Administration. Read and copy any file in staging area or digital library. Perform QC on contributed data objects. Perform QC on metadata and modify as needed. Write new versions of data files or change filenames, only as technically necessary, with concurrence of proponent. Load metadata and data objects into digital library.
IODP-MI Staff Inspection and approval. Read and download any object in staging area or digital library. Update metadata, but only with audit trail tracking. Upload annotation on any object.
Admin Allowed to edit any users group, grant access to proposals, and remove/ban users from site.
